"In my neck, I have 2 bulging discs and 2 with degenerative disc disease plus arthritis and bone spurs. A 2015 visit to a surgeon told me that I would need a fusion surgery. Yikes! I decided to visit Dr. Saracina first and she has treated me ever since! I've been able to remain extremely active without surgery. Thanks Dr. Saracina!"
Scoliosis
Scoliosis is a lateral (sideways) curve that occurs in the spine. Scoliosis affects 5 to 7 million people in the United States. Although scoliosis can begin at any age, it most often develops in adolescents between the ages of 10 and 15. Girls are more commonly affected than boys. Scoliosis can cause pain, limit range of motion, and in extreme cases inhibit respiratory and cardiovascular function. Spinal manipulation, specific exercises, and electrical muscle stimulation are advocated in the treatment of scoliosis. For those with back pain, spinal manipulation and exercises are beneficial.
